Would you like to use your personal mana to reclaim all materials damaged or otherwise on your land?

Charles remembered how this had worked in St. Louis and selected ‘Yes’ only after sitting on the ground. He grimaced in pain as the mana was pulled from his body in a rush and in a greater amount than before. This was already a bigger town, and his mana channels were feeling the strain. The mana gathering rune fought to keep his mana level stable against the building pain and pressure.

A scream burst from his mouth as blood began to drip from the corner of his eyes. The pressure cut off and vanished just before the channels running through his body weakened. They were strained but intact. After they healed, they would be even stronger. Next time he had to do this; he was going to select ‘No’. They could use taxed mana to accomplish the same thing, there was no reason for him to torture himself each time.

At that moment, he was glad that the door to the building was closed. He didn’t want either Alli or Kira to see him in this state. He rested for a few minutes before pushing himself to his feet and using his cleaning spell to get rid of the blood. The simple spell causing waves of pain to circulate through his body. His abused and swollen mana channels, protesting at being used yet again.

Taking in a deep breath he stumbled over to the door and let everyone inside, the noise outside invading with them. The creation of the building along with all the various materials being absorbed and replaced with green grass had not gone unnoticed.

“Come on in, there are a lot of little things I still have to do.” Charles told them as he walked back to the map table. The area around the building on the map had changed, ruined buildings and roads had all been reclaimed. The wall that had surrounded the city had also disappeared, leaving them temporarily open to attack.

He glanced at the last two messages he had gotten and then closed the first without fully reading it. It was just telling him that all the materials in the area had been gathered and sorted. The second was just letting him know that he had created his third town and that it had been linked to his others and the shared mana pool.

Opening the town menu, the first thing he did was set up the various taxes. He couldn’t build anything without the taxed mana to power everything. He confirmed the taxes and then waited as the mana rolled in before changing the interface to construction and telling it to build a wall.

In front of the gathered group, the map in the center of the room rippled and began to change. Even farther out than the original wall, a new wall was being built by the system. Constructing in minutes what had taken them weeks.

Alli lay at Charles’ feet while Kira stood in the corner scowling at her.
